The Day 1 keynote was addressed by Mr. John Sandwick, who also led the initial panel session focussing on Funding Development in Saudi Arabia. This dealt with key issues relevant to the 2030 Vision and funding through Sharia compliant methods. Including the Kingdom’s housing programme and the development of the mortgage finance industry, public-private partnerships and their role in privatisation and infrastructure financing.
DDGI Limited’s Head of Sales, Charlie Sleightholme, was proud to be a panellist on the Growth and Innovation of Capital Markets and Asset Management in the Kingdom: Highlights and Opportunities session. The panel shared their observations on the diversification of funding for corporates in Saudi and the potential for syndicated finance and Sukuk issuance among medium sized corporates, as well as recent developments and opportunities in the local equity market.
The IFN KSA 2019 event ended with a discussion focusing on Islamic Facilities in Saudi Arabia and Shariah compliant REITs, where Saudi Arabia and Malaysia are the two top markets for such products. With much expectation around the possibility of free zones and fintech innovation in the Kingdom.
