DDCAP, represented by Roslan Ahmad, Chief Representative of DDGI KL office, was delighted to sponsor and participate in the IFN Singapore conference The event commenced with a discussion of the potential of Singapore to become a regional hub for Islamic Finance and investment. Whilst Singapore undoubtedly has the right infrastructure to achieve this role, some panellists had reservations as Singapore has only a minority Muslim population to support the development of Islamic finance activities. Others chose to focus on the undoubted capabilities Singapore has to offer in terms of cross-border products and services to the region and globally, supported by international skill sets, a trusted legal system and world-class IT.
One particularly noteworthy session, based on its strong rapport with the Singapore government, was the launch by the IFSB of its Islamic Financial Services Industry Stability Report for 2019.
Roslan had the opportunity to present his research findings on ESG and sustainability performance and prospects, as one of the panellists in a session focusing on ‘Islamic Finance and Environmental, Humanitarian and Socially Responsible Investment: Opportunities for Development and Growth’.
